A man has been arrested and charged after a violent home invasion in South Taranaki where a homeowner was beaten with a baseball bat.
A 41-year-old has been charged with aggravated burglary and injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He is being held in custody and will appear
in the Hawera District Court on Tuesday, Fairfax reported.
He allegedly broke into an Opunake home between 5am and 6am today, his face disguised.
The occupants - a couple - were asleep but the woman woke when she heard someone in the house.
