Man arrested after Invercargill AOS callout

A man has been arrested by the armed offenders squad (AOS) following a domestic violence callout to an Invercargill house today.

Police were called about 11.30am and cordoned off Charles Street in the north Invercargill suburb of Waikiwi.

A 25-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman were involved in a family violence incident, police said.

Negotiators encouraged the man to give himself up, and he was arrested by the AOS.

Enquiries were continuing, police said.
