Man arrested after AOS callout

A man has been arrested following an armed offenders squad callout in Petone.

Police were called to a boarding house in Nelson Street shortly after 8.30am after reports of a man brandishing a firearm, police central communications Inspector Ken Climo said.

The occupants of the boarding house were evacuated and the area was cordoned off.

Mr Climo said the AOS cleared the building and arrested a man.

He said he did not know if the man had a firearm.
