Man accused of filming sexual violation

The trial began today in the New Plymouth High Court of two men accused of sexually violating a young woman.

The young men face a raft of charges related to accusations they had a threesome with a 17-year-old, who was too drunk to know what was happening.

The incident allegedly happened in Oakura on October 11th last year.

One also faces a charge of videoing the incident, which was posted on a private Facebook page.

The court heard details about what the woman recalled happening before she blacked out and was allegedly raped. She said she remembered sitting on the couch with the two men.

One man took her cellphone and started filming the other man grab her face and kiss her.

One of the last things she remembered before waking up in her bed the next morning was telling him to go away.

She said she tried to piece together what happened the following day by talking to friends.

The court heard the woman texted friends saying she couldn't remember a thing, wasn't ok with having a threesome and swore it was rape.

One of the accused texted her saying, "I didn't take advantage of you. You wanted it."

During the days following the incident, the woman texted a friend saying that if she got her way, the men would be behind bars and no longer playing rugby.

She said, "I refuse to be known as the slut who had a threesome."

The defendants are appealing Judge Justice David's decision to uplift their name suppression.
