Save A 20-year-old has been accused of burning down earthquake-damaged homes in Christchurch in a bid to steal hot water cylinders.
Police today arrested the man in relation to a series of fires and burglaries in the eastern suburb of Woolston.
He will appear at Christchurch District Court tomorrow charged with
offences including arson, attempted arson, wilful damage and burglary.
One house in Woolston was moderately damaged as a result of a fire earlier today.
A spokesman for Christchurch Police said: "Investigations will continue for other crimes of a similar nature in the area."
