A large road slip has shut down one of Bay of Plenty's main highways.
The section of State Highway 2 at Waimana Gorge near Taneatua is closed after a large slip this morning.
Police advised the Pekatahi Bridge was also closed and that motorists should allow extra time to travel
in this area.
Signage of the slip is in place and drivers are advised the detour route is via Whakatane and Ohope.
