Major crash in Epsom leaves one critically injured

One person is fighting for life after a major crash in Epsom.

Police were called to a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Gillies Ave and Owens Rd at 2.20pm.

One person was transported to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition.

Police said the Serious Crash Unit was notified and inquiries are ongoing.

Hato Hone St John said they responded to the incident with two ambulances, one rapid response unit and one operations manager.

Auckland Transport put out an alert that said the incident had impacted bus routes in the area.

The affected routes were Route 295 and School Route 512, which detoured through Ranfurly Rd and Manukau Rd, with Route 321 and School Route 510 having detoured through Owens Rd and Epsom Ave.

The left turn from Gillies Ave to Epsom Ave was also closed but the incident has now been cleared, with the affected buses returning to their normal routes.
