Main bashing suspects seen

Police believe they have spoken to all the main suspects involved in an attack on an off-duty policeman south of Auckland on Friday afternoon.

Ten people have appeared in the Pukekohe Youth Court facing a holding charge of assault following the attack on John Connolly near Tuakau College.

Mr Connolly, 39, was injured after he stepped in to stop a fight between a group of teenagers.

He remains in Middlemore Hospital with a fractured skull, a broken jaw, broken bones in his face, a collapsed lung and a broken ankle.
