A moderate 4.2 earthquake has rocked the central North Island early this morning.
Geonet said the quake struck at 3.38am and was located five km north of Napier.
It was 12 km deep and described as a moderate shake.
People have reported feeling the tremor widely throughout the Hawkes Bay
and across to Manawatu.
