Lunchtime fire at Burger King

A lunchtime fire in west Auckland has brought new meaning to Burger King's flame grilled tag line.

A blaze has damaged the roofing extraction system at the burger joint at Westgate.

Fire communications shift manager Jaron Phillips says the spectacular fire attracted a number of callers, who reported thick black smoke.

He says even so, a number of people having their lunch in Burger King didn't notice the fire, and had to be told to leave.
