Lower Hutt assault: Police appeal for information from public, sightings of teenage boy in Avalon Park

Police are asking for the public’s help in investigating an assault in a park in Lower Hutt.

The assault happened about 11am Saturday at Avalon Park.

Police are also asking for sightings of a teenager described as Caucasian with blond hair who was seen behaving suspiciously in the area.

A police spokesman said: “We are asking anyone who was in the vicinity of the public toilets next to the Avalon Park Pavilion around 11am Saturday to please get in touch if you heard or saw anything suspicious.”

The teenager was described as wearing a light-blue-coloured sweatshirt and black trousers.

“We would like to speak with anyone who noticed [him] ... behaving suspiciously in the area – including whether they saw him enter or leave the toilet block (off Fairway Dr) and which direction he went,” the police spokesman said.

Police have been speaking with somebody in relation to the assault and were supporting the victim, he said.
