Auckland Lotto Powerball ticket wins $5.5m just before new year

A lucky Aucklander has won an eye-watering $5.5 million in tonight’s Lotto Powerball draw, just days before the new year.

The winning numbers were 2, 19, 27, 26, 14, 23. The bonus ball was 7, and the Powerball was 3.

The winning ticket was sold at New World Green Bay in Auckland.

The punter’s total prize is made up of $5m from Powerball First Division and $500,000 from Lotto First Division.

One other lucky Lotto player will also be celebrating after winning $500,000 with Lotto First Division. The winning ticket was sold at Four Square Houhora Wharf in the Far North.

Meanwhile, Strike Four has rolled over tonight and will be $700,000 on Wednesday night.

This draw comes after two lucky punters from Pukekohe and Ōtaki were in for an exciting Christmas Eve surprise after they each won $500,000 with Lotto First Division on Wednesday.

Ten fortunate Lotto players were also in for a Christmas treat after each of them won $27,621 with Lotto Second Division.

Last Saturday, one lucky winner from Whangārei took home the $6m Powerball jackpot.

The combined Lotto and Powerball prize amount was $6.2m, the largest prize since one player took home a $16m jackpot on December 10.

What to do if you win

Ticket holders can see immediately if they have won if they purchased a ticket through MyLotto. Prizes of $1000 or less are automatically credited to the account.

For prizes exceeding $1000, winners must complete an online prize claim form.

Winners with physical tickets must still visit a Lotto retailer to claim their prize.

For the Powerball jackpot to be claimed, a ticket holder must get all six Lotto numbers correct as well as the added Powerball number.
