Local man arrested in Tokoroa

Tokoroa police have made an arrest over a vicious stabbing in the South Waikato town on Friday.

A 29-year-old Tokoroa man is in a critical but stable condition in Auckland Hospital's critical care unit.

He was found by police and ambulance officers in a Kelso Street house shortly after 2 o'clock in the afternoon with head injuries and stab wounds.

Police have arrested a 21-year-old local man and charged him with attempted murder.

He will appear in the Tokoroa district court today.
