Lindis Pass-Tarras Road crash: One person dies after two-vehicle collision

The Serious Crash Unit carried out a scene examination.

State Highway 8 through Lindis Pass has reopened after a fatal crash this afternoon.

One person died after the crash on Lindis Pass-Tarras Road in Otago.

Emergency services were alerted to the two-vehicle crash near Ōmarama-Lindis Road just after 12.20pm.

Hato Hone St John said one Prime vehicle, a rapid response unit, an ambulance, a manager and a rescue helicopter were sent to the scene.

“Sadly, despite best efforts of emergency services, one person died at the scene,” police said.

The Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination.
