A Wanganui landlord's legal troubles continued yesterday when he appeared in court for assaulting his wife.
Hamish John Davey, 41, a builder, pleaded guilty in Whanganui District Court to assaulting his wife Diana. The charge was amended from assault with intent to injure, and a further charge of threatening tokill dropped, at the request of police prosecutor Sergeant Rachel Willemsen.
The court was told that at 8am on March 16 Davey returned home from drinking with friends and when he entered his bedroom pushed his wife in the upper chest and told her to leave.
Mrs Davey then left the property.
Defence counsel Debbie Goodlet said Davey no longer lived with his wife but the pair wished to "work on the relationship". Ms Goodlet also said relationship counselling was "on the cards".
Judge David Cameron convicted Davey and ordered him to come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months.
* Davey was a director of Federal Housing Management which has to still pay $4500 to a former tenant. Danielle Hope, whose story appeared in the Wanganui Chronicle yesterday and on the TV programme Fair Go last night, was awarded the funds by the Tenancy Tribunal for harrassment, unlawful entry, damages in breach of bond, failing to provide premises in a reasonable state, interference with locks and interference with services.
