League: Broncos assault case takes another turn

BRISBANE - Police have refused to confirm if an investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving three Broncos National Rugby League players has been widened to include drug use.

The Australian newspaper today reported video footage on a mobile phone seized from one of the three players involved in the alleged assault of a 24-year-old woman in a Brisbane nightclub toilet on September 13 also showed people taking drugs.

The paper said the footage was found on one of the player's mobiles but added that police had yet to determine the identities of those who were believed to have been captured on the video.

A spokeswoman for Queensland police said the assault investigation was continuing but would not confirm whether it had been widened to include any drug taking.

The mobiles were taken by police last week when the three players - Karmichael Hunt, Sam Thaiday and Darius Boyd - had formal interviews over the alleged sexual assault of the woman at the Alhambra Lounge in the inner Brisbane suburb of Fortitude Valley.

Police were reportedly investigating suggestions that various sex acts in the nightclub's toilets were recorded on the mobile phone.

But it was not known when the footage was shot.
