Featherston School said goodbye to office manager Floris Nation after 22 years of service on Friday.
Mrs Nation, from Carterton, said although she had enjoyed her time at the school "immensely" and had many fond memories, it was time to retire.
"I've loved the kids, I've loved the staff. It'sjust time for me," she said.
She was farewelled with a school assembly and morning tea. The school sung a Waiata, speeches were given, and Mrs Nation was presented with flowers and gifts in recognition of her dedication to the school.
"It was a fantastic send off, we were absolutely rapt with it, it couldn't have been better."
She said the 65 pupils at the school would miss her because she "doesn't get grumpy".
Principal Phil Robertson said Mrs Nation's "down to earth, friendly way" would be missed.
"I always found her hard-working and very supportive. There's been a lot of good times and she was always wanting to come in and get things done, she was always friendly and calm."
