Kitchen knife stabbing in Balclutha

An 18-year-old Balclutha youth was "bloody lucky" to survive being stabbed in the back with a 40cm kitchen knife during an argument at a Balclutha house early on Saturday.

The youth's father said the entire knife had been stabbed into the teenager's back. "He was bloody lucky," he said yesterday.

The youth is resting at home.

A 33-year-old Balclutha woman will appear in the Dunedin District Court today to face a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
