King's student dies after school ball

A King's College student has died following a party at Eden Park last night - the fourth death of a King's student in 17 months.

The school has opened its chapel for counselling for students affected by the tragedy.

It is understood David Gaynor died some distance from the ball venue.

His death follows those of three students from the south Auckland school last year, including 16-year-old James Webster, who fell unconscious after drinking spirits at a 16th birthday party in Auckland.

There have been reports of drunkenness at last night's ball.
