A Kentucky couple face jail for allegedly trading their pickup truck for a baby.
Jeremy and Jamie Brown pleaded not guilty to human trafficking charges last week after it was discovered they traded a silver 1999 Dodge Dakota pickup to a 30-year-old meth addict mother.
Police have since said thatthe pickup was quickly traded for US$800 and some methamphetamine by the baby's mother, Heather Kaminskey.
Two other children had previously been removed from the 30-year-old's care by Florida state agencies. The baby she traded for the old truck is now also in state care.
Laurel County Sheriffs are reportedly seeking warrants for Kaminskey's arrest on both human trafficking and drug charges.
The Browns had been raising the baby since January and are now facing up to 20 years jail if found guilty. They pleaded not guilty at their first court appearance last week.
Lt. Rodney van Zant of the Laurel County Sheriff's Department said: "I honestly believe they [the Browns] had the best intentions, but they way they went about it was the wrong way."
