Kayaker dies in Haast on group trip

A kayaker has died in Haast, police say.

Emergency services were called to Jackson Bay/Okahu in Haast about 2pm, police said in a statement.

The person who died was part of a group kayaking on a river.

Police will make inquiries on behalf of the coroner.
