Wairarapa United should be too strong for Wellington United in their Central League football match in Wellington tomorrow.
The form book says it all. Wairarapa United sit third equal on the points table with 17 points, from five wins, two draws and three losses. Wellington United sit in ninth, with four from one win, one draw and nine losses.
There is one thing in Wellington United's favour though.
Recent history indicates they play their best football at home, and often when Wairarapa are their opponents.
Having said that, a Wairarapa United squad playing anywhere close to their best form should have little difficulty registering a comfortable win.
They will be keen to put the controversy surrounding their axing from the Chatham Cup for playing an ineligible player in their 2-1 third round win over Napier City Rovers behind them.
The result of Wairarapa United's appeal against that decision may, in fact, be known before they take to the field tomorrow.
Although New Zealand Football has yet to notify them exactly when that announcement will be made.
It seems likely that Vanuatu international Brian Kalteck will have his first start in the Wairarapa United colours. Also on deck will be Dale Higham, just returned from playing for the Junior All Whites in their World Cup tourney in Turkey.
