The crown and the defence have both wrapped up their cases in the Marie Davis murder trial in Christchurch. Dean Cameron is accused of raping and murdering the 15-year-old in April last year.
The crown says Cameron raped and murdered the teen in the early hours of April 6, 2008 before dumping her body in the Waimakariri River.
Crown Prosecutor Chris Lange told the jury during his closing yesterday that forensic evidence links Cameron to the crime.
Defence Lawyer Frank Hogan said Marie may have gone to the river to have a sexual encounter with another person that morning.
The judge has completed his summing up and the jury has retired to consider its verdict.
