Journalist farewelled

Sam McDonald, left, and his older brother Michael help carry the coffin of their father Nick McDonald from his funeral service heard in Masterton Town Hall yesterday. Mr McDonald was managing editor of Wairarapa News up until his sudden death last Sunday, aged 51. The town hall was packed, both upstairs and downstairs, with mourners ? many of whom spoke at the service and who had known Mr McDonald from school days in Hawke's Bay. Masterton Mayor Bob Francis and Labour MP Georgina Beyer were among those to give eulogies.
