A fine day is forecast for Gisborne and the East Coast.
Graeme Revell, like Clague a member of the club for over 50 years, said the name of the club could be confusing when inviting people to take part in the drive.
“But all vehicles are welcome.”
He owns a “post-vintage” 1946 Chevrolet pick-up.
Motorbikes and scooters were also welcome, Clague said.
In the past, the Gisborne event has attracted up to 70 or 80 vehicles.
The club has been supporting the Cancer Society for nine years.
The Vintage Car Club of New Zealand, represented by 36 branches, decided at an AGM to support a charity.
The original charity, chosen for a period of three years, was the Cancer Society and its popularity struck a chord and has never waned, Clague said.
The Cancer Society has remained the charity of the Vintage Car Club of New Zealand.
Across the country, Vintage Car Club members have raised as much as $80,000 in one year.
The national body had set a target of $100,000 nationwide this year, said Clague.
Entry fee for vehicles is $10. Signing an entry form on the day will provide public liability insurance for the drive in case of a mishap.
August 25 is the Vintage Car Club of New Zealand’s “National Day”. More information is available at www.vcc.org.nz
