"He has got such a lovely nature. He's a really beautiful dog. He is obedient."
He would be best suited fitting into a family with older children and no other pets, as was a bit shy around other dogs and still a bit boisterous to be around young children, Ms Hughes said.
"He's still a bit playful. He is quite shy and doesn't cope well with other dogs though we've had no issues with him. No problems at all."
Council communications manager Sam Rossiter-Stead said it was not often they were handed over dogs like Jimmy, so they wanted to find him a suitable place to hang up his collar and call home.
