Jennian Homes houses claim gold at comp

SHOWCASE: Gold Award GIB Show Home Award - Jennian Homes Wairarapa Ltd for a home in Masterton.

Three Wairarapa homes have won awards in the Wellington Wairarapa Region House of the Year competition.

Two Jennian Homes Wairarapa Ltd houses collected gold awards for the $250,000 to $350,000 category and Show Home Award category, while a Stonewood Homes Wellington Ltd won a silver award, also in the $250,000 to $350,000 section.

The awards were announced at a ceremony at Te Papa in Wellington on Friday.

Jennian Homes Wairarapa managing director Gareth Norris said he is "absolutely thrilled" with the result.

"It's great to be recognised by our peers for the good work we do," he said.

"I think, what's impressed the judges is the consistency of our quality, our exceptional level of design."

The result comes on top of the Wairarapa branch winning the in-house Franchisee of the Year award.

"This is a huge pat on the back for our designers and contractors."

He said it was the first year in a number of years they had entered.

"We just thought we would get back into it, and first time around, we get two golds.

"It reinforces what we know - we build good homes."

The 15 Gold Award winners from the Wellington and Wairarapa areas will now be assessed alongside Gold Award winners from the 10 other regions of the competition to find the National Gold Reserve finalists, which will be announced in September.
