Jacinda Ardern has given a speech at Labour Headquarters congratulating English and reinforcing Labour will keep fighting for the polices they believe in.
Jacinda Ardern's partner Clarke Gayford admitted to being "a little on edge" as he shared some food with the media outside the couple's home in Point Chevalier, Auckland.
Gayford shared sausages as well as fish bites, made from a 42kg sea bass he caught off the coast of Tairua.
Hesaid he was enjoying having a task to do as it was helping him keep the nerves at bay.
A few minutes earlier, Jacinda Ardern posted a video to her Facebook page, thanking voters for having their say.
She also shared what was happening inside her home as the results are rolling in.
Twitter users seemed to enjoy the "sausage" interlude in the election coverage, with a few Kiwis admitting they hope to see more of Gayford and his tea towel.
I really wanted @jacindaardern to win so we'd get more Clarke Gayford
