Yachting New Zealand is keen to get an accurate update of the register of yachts and launches. Because people have not been forthcoming with ownership changes, YNZ is offering a chance to get your boat on the register free. Until September 1 the $39 fee will be waived. The modest extra charge for new sail numbers and boat names will remain to cover production costs. To register, go to the "keelboat, racing and cruising" section on the Yachting NZ website or e-mail korc@yachtingnz.org.nz, or mail changes to PO Box 33789, Takapuna, Auckland.

Storage option

North Shore people who are apartment dwellers or who want a hassle-free solution to parking the rig have a new option. Rogers Boatshop has opened a storage centre next to the Albany dealership. There is room for 50 rigs and manager Nigel Arkell says the centre is open from 7am to 7pm seven days a week. Options as well as storage include full servicing, trailer warrants and wash-down facilities.

Show sell-out

All the 33,000 sq m of floor space at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre has been sold for this year's Melbourne Boat Show. The Boating Industry Association of Victoria says more than 130 companies will be exhibiting at the July 3 to 7 event.

Tahiti charters

Jeni Tidmarsh from Sail Connections in Auckland is putting together another Tahiti cruising flotilla package. The deal offers relaxed sailing, swimming, snorkelling, beachcombing and exploring. The skippered boats will cruise the Leeward Islands of Raiatea, Tahaa, Huahine and Bora Bora from September 7 to 19. Prices start from $4400 each including travel from Auckland.

Winter series racing and match-racing continues this weekend.

Saturday: Women's winter series, race 4 (PCC); MRX match-racing (RNZYS); Race 5 Bayley's winter series, 10am start (GHYC); Fully crewed series (RYC).

Sunday: Fully crewed series, race 4 (RAYC); winter series, race 4 (PCC).
