IT consultant jailed for ACC fraud

An Auckland IT consultant has been jailed for two and a half years for ripping off ACC and his employer.

Ken Green has admitted receiving over $20,000 compensation he was not entitled to.

ACC says in July last year Green started his own company while claiming weekly compensation after injuring his back. He lied to a doctor seven times to obtain medical certificates.

The fraud was not discovered for four months.

Green has also pleaded guilty to defrauding a former employer of $250,000.

He was arrested by police at Auckland International Airport.
