Aunty Glenys Ogg, of Manukau, was looking after Max, 5, and Nina, 4, for a few days during the school

Bureaucracy is stupid: (1) German poet Friedrich Schiller has been dead for more than 200 years. But that didn't stop the government sending him a bill for his TV and radio licence fee. The bills kept coming to the Friedrich Schiller Primary School even after the headmaster wrote to the collection agency reminding them Schiller was dead. (2) When students at Kentucky's Woodford High School began wearing black and gold clothing, school officials thought they were gang colours and banned their use. The comment by Matt Hancock about Ford Falcons as company cars really annoyed a reader. "It's typical of people leaping to conclusions based on a small piece of information," he says. "Maybe the Falcon driver has a family of five. It's their only car because the kids walk to school and their partner does the same, but they do like to get out and see the country. Maybe they have a boat, possibly an environmentally friendly yacht, and need something suitable to tow it. Matt's solution would be for this family to have two cars, with all the associated extra cost."
