A Western Springs College student approached Durex to help pay for their school ball - but the school stoppedthe deal. The condom maker was one of few companies to respond to pitches from a student organising committee. "We said: 'Hey look, that's not the direction we want to go'," said associate principal Ivan Davis. "I mean we believe in educating kids and keeping them safe but we don't believe in promoting a particular brand or product."
McDonald's not on ball

Indian police are holding a pigeon under armed guard after it was caught on an alleged spying mission for Pakistan. The bird was found in India's Punjab state, which borders Pakistan. The pigeon had a ring around its foot and a Pakistani phone number and address stamped in red on its body. No note has been found.
