It could be the line-up of top chefs, the choice of 300 exhibitors - or just the free tastings everywhere - but the annual Food Show got off to a busy, crowded start in Auckland yesterday.
Now in its seventh year, the event showcases a mixture of Kiwi artisan foodproducers, imported European delicacies, local and overseas wines and a multitude of different food brands all in one place.
Celebrity chefs including Donna Hay, Annabel Langbein, Peter Gordon, Julie Le Clerc, Ruth Pretty and Ray McVinnie will share some of their culinary secrets and offer tips at cooking demonstrations at the show.
Wine connoisseurs are also catered for with several sessions where experts match varieties with different dishes, and those who fancy home entertaining will also be well looked after.
Thousands of other products, including cookware, coffee, organic meats, seafood, cheeses and chutneys, are also on offer.
The Food Show runs until Sunday at the ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane.
