Investigation into early morning BoP blaze

Fire safety officers are investigating an early morning blaze at the Karangahake Hall in the Bay of Plenty.

Firefighters were called to the scene in the Karangahake Gorge about 5am - but the hall was well ablaze by the time emergency services arrived.

Fire Communications Shift Manager Megan Ruru says the building has fallen in on itself.

She says it's unclear at this stage what started the fire.
