A 17-year-old Invercargill girl remained in intensive care at Dunedin Hospital this morning after a single-vehicle crash in Queenstown early yesterday.
Senior Sergeant Brian Benn said yesterday the teen's car hit a parked vehicle on Gorge Rd after crossing the centre line about 12.40am.
She was carrying two passengers inthe Toyota Sprinter, an earlier police statement said.
After failing to take the right-hand bend, the vehicle crashed into a van, which shunted another van into a fourth vehicle. All the other vehicles were unoccupied.
The Invercargill teen was flown to Dunedin Hospital, after being assessed at Dunstan Hospital.
Intoxication and speed were possible factors in the crash, Snr Sgt Benn said.
The driver was trapped for a short time in the car. The front-seat passenger, who also had to be freed from the car, suffered a broken collarbone and remains in Southland Hospital.
