Invercargill couple wake to find burglar in room

An Invercargill couple awoke to find a burglar carrying a baseball bat in their bedroom.

Senior Sergeant Neil Cruickshank said the man had taken electronic gear and CDs before going into the bedroom with the baseball bat.

When the couple awoke and saw him he ran away.

One of the residents chased him on to the street but the burglar got into a waiting car and sped off.

Mr Cruickshank said the man had forced a window to get into the house.
