Injured tramper, 16, airlifted out of Sounds

A 16-year-old Balclutha girl is in Wellington Hospital after being air-lifted from bush in the Marlborough Sounds.

The girl fell and hit her head last night during a school tramping trip.

Crew from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter said the people with the girl did a good job of looking after her until help arrived.

They were also able to give an exact GPS location, which made finding the group easy.
