A man has been rescued after suffering a serious leg injury while hunting on Stewart Island yesterday.
Senior Sergeant Maggie Windle of Invercargill police said the 56-year-old was hunting with two others in the Doughboy Bay area when he suffered the injury around 6pm.
She said the man activated alocator beacon and the Rescue Coordination Centre dispatched a Rakiura helicopter.
"He had hired this beacon and this was of great assistance in the rescue."
