Infant stable in Starship

Six-week-old Xavier Witiheria remains in a stable condition in Starship children's hospital after being admitted on Wednesday with serious head injuries, including a fractured skull, brain bruising and a black eye.

Child, Youth and Family deputy chief executive Ray Smith said CYF had been involved with Xavier's family previously, and together with health professionals had worked hard to locate Xavier and his mother. "But regrettably, we were unable to do so."
