Indian aid in pilgrim hunt

The Indian High Commission is helping to find 16 missing Indian pilgrims, the Labour Department said yesterday.

Twenty others have been found. More than 200 Indian nationals bound for the Catholic Church's World Youth Day celebrations in Sydney arrived in Auckland a fortnight ago, but 40 absconded from their billets and failed to catch their connecting flight.

Their permits will expire today or tomorrow, depending on when they arrived.
