In a spin to raise funds for St John

The ASB St John Spin has received fantastic support, said ASB Masterton's branch manager Sarah Liardet.

From 9am to 4.30pm yesterday, volunteers stepped up to cycle on the spot for 15 minutes outside ASB on Queen St, donating $10 to St John.

Those who had the generosity but not the time could pay $20 to sponsor an ASB rider to do it for them.

Ms Liardet said ASB had a corporate relationship with St John, and this was the second "spin" run in two years.

"It hasn't stopped since 9am," she said.

"We've had a vast range of volunteers, including two Wairarapa College rugby students earlier."

She said they had lots of support from passersby and customers, securing more donations.

After a cycle, St John hooked up volunteers to a machine to assess and check their recovery rate.
