Mike McRoberts loves to come back to friendly Auckland Airport.

Do you travel light or heavy?
I usually try to travel light. We've normally got so much camera equipment that the last thing you need is extra baggage.

Cattle or first class?
Cattle class but I have been fortunate with upgrades.

Are you a planner or last-minute packer?
A lot of my trips tend to be last-minute so I'm pretty good at packing.

What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?
I always try to bring back a present for my children, Ben and Maia. Handmade slippers from Pakistan were a hit.

Favourite or most exciting airport to land in?
Auckland - it's always good to get home and the staff there are the friendliest in the world.

Best travel tip?
I thoroughly recommend a pair of noise-reducing headphones.

Most memorable trip .
Flying into Baghdad, the plane travelled at 15 thousand feet to evade surface-to-air missiles. To land, it descended into a corkscrew dive that pinned me back against my seat.
