HAMILTON
Police are still trying to find David Kong, a 19-year-old Hamilton man who has not been heard from since March 14. He is believed to be driving a 1988 gold Ford Telstar, registration number OA2036.
His family say it is most uncharacteristic of him not to be in touch with them.
Police ask anyone who knows where he is to call their local police station or Detective Sergeant Greg Nicholls at the West Hamilton station on 07-846 6477.
GLENFIELD
Glenfield police want to hear from anyone who might have seen two men loitering around a payphone outside Dick Smith Electronics in Glenfield Rd between 2 am and 5 am on Friday, April 6.
The men are believed to have been involved in the vicious beating of a 61-year-old taxi driver in Beach Haven just after 5 am that day.
They are described as Caucasians in their early 20s. One was wearing a blue and white striped long-sleeved shirt and the other a dark beanie.
The victim managed to tear a sleeve off the blue and white shirt before he succumbed to blows to the head from a blunt instrument.
The attack happened as the men were dropped off in Teal Cres, Beach Haven. They ran off towards Rangatira Rd.
If you have any information, contact Constable Andrew Ferguson on 443-8045.
AUCKLAND
Auckland police want to talk to the driver of a white or light-coloured van who picked up a young Dutch tourist in Queen St early on Sunday, April 15, after she had been indecently assaulted.
The woman had spent Saturday with an Indian man, and on Sunday morning was violated by him in Myers Park. When she left the park she approached the van driver and asked him to take her to the police. As the Downtown station was closed, he took her to a hostel in Fort St. The van driver is described as Indian or Arab looking, short and stocky, with medium-length dark hair. He may have been wearing a maroon jacket.
A man, not the van driver, has been arrested and charged.
If you know who the van driver might be, call Detective Constable Mark Miller on 302-6789.
