Ice causes countless crashes around Christchurch

Canterbury police are urging drivers to slow down after attending 13 crashes in the past two days because of ice.

Sergeant Dan Harker, of Selwyn police, said it had been the worst 48 hours for crashes for some time and urged people to slow down.

"We've been seeing cars in ditches all over the district," he said.

Most crashes were minor and no significant injuries had been reported.
