WHERE ARE YOU: Philip Parkes holds a pile of "gone, no address" enrolment forms for the Wairarapa electorate.
Wairarapa has nearly 500 potential voters who have apparently departed the electorate, according to Registrar of Electors Philip Parkes.
His office has received 494 enrolment packs with "gone, no address", which means those people are not eligible to vote for Wairarapa in this year's general election.
Nationally, more than 43,000voters have moved house without updating their enrolment details, said Murray Wicks, National Manager of Enrolment Services.
As of July 31, enrolment for Wairarapa stands at 97.37 per cent. That means an estimated 1300 non-enrolled voters.
"If you're not sure whether you're enrolled, now's the time to check."
People can check their enrolment online at www.elections.org.nz, by calling 0800 36 76 56, or by checking the newly-printed electoral rolls at PostShops and public libraries in their electorate.
"If you are one of those whose pack has been returned to us because you've moved house and not updated your enrolment details, you have been removed from the electoral roll and need to fill in a new enrolment form now," said Mr Wicks.
The Wellington Central electorate has had the most voters removed from the roll with 1237.
