Hung jury in High Court rape trial

A retrial has been ordered in the Ratana case after a hung jury at the High Court in Napier.

Kerry Charles Ratana, 25, had been accused of sexually violating his former girlfriend's five-year-old daughter.

He had denied the charge.

Ratana has been remanded in custody until November 22 when a new trial date will be set.
