He said police had made a number of arrests in relation to other offending uncovered during the investigation.
Many of those people are in custody on charges including aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of firearms, offering to sell methamphetamine, Burke said.
"As this is an active investigation we cannot discuss specifics of the case, or suspects, however we are following positive lines of enquiry," said Mr Burke.
Burke said so far police received information from members of the public which had"greatly assisted police".
