Police hunting the killer of interior designer David McNee were today back at the house where he was found dead last week.
Police are "mapping" the Hackett Street property in the inner Auckland suburb of St Mary's Bay, listing all the items inside in their exact locations.
Because of the size of
the home, its handing back to Mr McNee's family is now not expected until Wednesday or Thursday.
The inquiry team headed by Detective Senior Sergeant Lance Burdett were also following up about 60 calls received from the public about Mr McNee's car, spokeswoman Andi Brotherston said.
Mr McNee, 55, was found bashed to death last Tuesday. He was last known to have been alive the previous Sunday afternoon, when he phoned a relative.
Police believe his Audi TT sports car was taken around greater Auckland on a joy ride between Sunday afternoon and Tuesday night, when it was located in the central city.
Ms Brotherston said the inquiry team had received "good solid" information from the public over sightings of vehicle.
Police have so far released details of three sightings, including two involving at least two people being seen with the car at a food outlet in south Auckland and at a retail story in Auckland city.
Officers also visited gay bars in the Karangahape Rd area on Friday and Saturday night.
Police have not said whether the visits provided additional information, but Mr Brotherston said the bars had been "very helpful" in their willingness to co-operate with the inquiry.
