Home-made bomb in car disabled

A home-made bomb found in the boot of a car in Waitangi in Northland has been disabled and the driver of the car arrested.

Police said the pipe bomb and an axe were found in the car after it was stopped for a police check.

A 36-year-old man will appear in the Kaikohe District Court today on charges including possession of an offensive weapon and a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
