The first celebrity wedding of the year is tipped to be an informal, if exclusive, affair.
Broadcaster Paul Holmes is to wed long-time partner Deborah Hamilton at their Mana Lodge rural hideaway near Hastings on January 26.
The wedding would be an "informal" celebration with a "few friends", said an industry source.
The
Herald understands the 60 guests have been told not to bring presents or cameras, but could not confirm whether Holmes has an exclusive deal with a magazine.
It will be the second wedding for TVNZ's top broadcaster. His 1992 marriage to former children's show host Hine Elder ended in 1997. The couple had a son, Reuben, and Holmes adopted Dr Elder's daughter, Millie.
That wedding included guests from television, theatre and politics. Jim Bolger, Prime Minister at the time, was a guest, and the master of ceremonies was Dr Ross Armstrong, who later became TVNZ chairman.
Holmes' public spat with Dr Armstrong and the latter's fall from grace last year mean he is unlikely to have received an invitation this time round, as is Mr Bolger.
But almost certain to be there are Labour Party president Mike Williams, former Holmes show producer Maryanne Ahern, fashion designers Denise L'Estrange-Corbet and partner Francis Hooper and TVNZ public relations man Dick Griffin.
